Course Objective:
Operation Theatre Technology is a course that focuses on the management and work of an operation theatre. An operation theatre technologist oversees all aspects of patient care including equipment setup and operation procedures. They also arrange the dressing table, instrument tables, anesthesia tables, and other surgical equipment. A surgeon may also need an Operation Theater Technician to assist him or her with the preparation of the drugs, anaesthetic gasses, drapes, linen and their sterilization.
Career Opportunities:
After successfully completing the course, hospitals are the main recruiters of surgical/operation theatre technologists. They work in operating theatres, ICUs, emergency departments, hospitals and nursing homes. There are openings in areas such as transplant teams, orthopedic clinics and gynecology section, surgery units, special care baby units, and cancer units. They also have a role in education, research and training. They can be found in the office of doctors or dentists who perform outpatient surgeries.
